Peggy Jean Bowers
(April 13, 1948 - December 8, 2005)

Peggy Jean Bowers of Coweta died Thursday, December 8, 2005 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. She was 57 years old.

Peggy was born on April 13, 1948 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Lynnwood and Beulah (Lawmaster) Bertling. She received her education in the Broken Arrow school system and graduated from Broken High School in 1966. On July 24, 1976 she and Jerry (Jake) Bowers were married in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

Peggy worked at Brokes Upholstery for 30 years. She was also a bus driver for Coweta Public Schools for seven years. She attended the First Baptist Church in Coweta. Her hobbies included shopping, playing bunko, traveling, painting, crafts and decorating for Christmas. She also enjoyed being with her grandkids.

Survivors include her husband, Jake Bowers of the home; two sons, Jay Kennon of Coweta and Jerry (Hoot owl) Bowers of Haskell; two daughters, Kim Murphy of Coweta and Kim (Kimmie) Tackett of Wagoner; mother, Beulah Bertling of Coweta; one brother, Lynn (Spud) Bertling of Broken Arrow; two sisters, Terri McMillan of Coweta and Susie Chubb of Broken Arrow; ten grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral Services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Coweta with Rev. David Jones officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the directions of Wright Funeral Home.

Casket bearers will be Jerry Love, Nathan Schenck, Terry Techau, Ronnie Denton, Glen Peck, and Harold “Bubba” Coots. Honorary casket bearers will be Doy Pledger, Terry Potter, Gary Snelson, and Harlin Sanders.

The Rev. David Jones officiated the service.
Pallbearers were Jerry Love, Nathan Schenck, Glen Peck and Harold “Bubba” Coots. Honorary pallbearers were Doy Pledger, Terry Potter, Gary Snelson and Harlin Sanders.
Interment was in Vernon Cemetery under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
