Obituary for Roy G. Sheppard

A graveside service honoring the life of Roy Gary Sheppard will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2018 at Park Grove Cemetery under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home. 

Roy was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Thursday, June 12, 1947 to Roy C. and Desa (Crawford) Sheppard. Roy passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the age of 70. 

Roy graduated from high school and went on to attend college. Roy was an ambitious self-starter and a hard worker. He was proud to be self-employed as a mechanical contractor in residential developments. Roy was a member of the Local Chapter 584 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. 

Roy married Katy Richardson on May 1, 1970 at Broken Arrow Calvary Baptist Church. Their union was blessed with seven children. Roy was a wonderful husband and father. He adored his family and loved spending time with them. He was very fond of traditional family gatherings, especially around the holidays. 

Roy was a generous and self-less man; he would give you the shirt off his own back. He was always eager to pitch in and volunteer to help others. Roy often volunteered to work the Broken Arrow Band concession stands. He attended New Bethel Assembly of God.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rowena Jenkins, Naomi McNeese and Beverly Dodd, brother Ray Gene Sheppard.
