
Kristen “Katie” Brister Howell was born June 4, 1971 in Fort Meade, Maryland the daughter of Clyde Allen and Karen Elizabeth (Howerton) Brister. She passed from this life on Sunday, December 9, 2018 in Broken Arrow at the age of 47 years, 6 months and 5 days.
Katie graduated Broken Arrow High School in 1989 and received Bachelor’s Degrees in both Family Relations and Child Development from Oklahoma State University. She married Jason Howell on August 1, 1998 in Tulsa and was a member of Church on The Move. Katie was an avid runner and enjoyed volunteering for Swim Tulsa and Church on The Move. She homeschooled her three daughters and loved spending time with them.
She is survived by her husband of more than 20 years, Jason Howell of the Bixby home; daughters, Quincy Howell Knutson and husband, Jordan of Broken Arrow, Liberty Anne Howell of Bixby and Cecilia Allyn Howell of Bixby; mother, Karen Brister of Broken Arrow; brother, Clyde Allen Brister of Broken Arrow; aunts, Lucy Hofstrom and husband, Kenneth of Glenpool and Dorothy Haynes and husband, Richard of Tulsa; uncle, Martin Howerton and wife, Pat of Tulsa; father and mother-in law, Thomas “Tom” and Janet Howell of Ardmore; brothers-in-law, Jeremy Howell and wife, Laura Sherwood of Eugene, Oregon and Jerod Howell and wife, Mallory of Tulsa; numerous cousins, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Brister; paternal grandparents, Ira and Dorothy Brister and maternal grandparents, Violet and Clyde Howerton.
Visitation for Katie will be held 5pm to 8pm, Thursday, December 13th (family will be present to greet visitors), 8am to 8pm, Friday, December 14th, 9am to 8pm, Saturday, December 15th and 1pm to 5 pm on Sunday, December 16th.
A funeral service celebrating Katie’s life is scheduled for 11am, Monday, December 17, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church, 1703 West 41st Street. An old-fashioned ice cream social will follow the service in Trinity’s fellowship hall. Katie will be laid to rest in a private graveside service in Green Hill Cemetery.
