I kept up with Dave. He was very happy at the end of his life, spending time with his love Isabel, writing political commentary for a local newspaper in Asheville, listening to classical music and writing poetry. We frequently discussed this crazy world and I so miss our chats.
David and I were mistaken as twins more times than I can count. We always stood in line side by side and I would remind him of "ladies first" and he would come right back with a reminder that his first name began with D and mine J, thus, he was ahead of me. I remember him fondly as young children.
Such a nice guy (although I have an impression of him being a bit of a terror, along with Casey in elementary school. He was part of a group, along with Billy Murphy, who went off to prep school (Kent in Dave's case) after 8th grade
Dave was an amazing writer and sweet guy. He brought Casey to Nashville some years back and we had a great time laughing and telling stories. Felisa Kalinski was here visiting Donna/Laurie Pellilo too at the time. When I was at the Tennessean, we used to talk alot. We lost touch after he moved to Asheville, but I was glad for the time we had.
