GERRY ALONZO FLEMISTER passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024, in his hometown of Buffalo, New York. Born on August 26, 1954, to the late Willard A. and Doris E. Flemister, Gerry was the second oldest of four children.
Gerry's early life was marked by a strong sense of faith. Baptized at a young age, he was a lifelong member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, where he found solace and strength in his beliefs. A proud graduate of Riverside High School, Gerry answered the call of duty and entered the United States Army in 1974, serving his country with honor and dedication. His personal life blossomed when he married Rosalie Thompson, and although their union later ended, it blessed him with a beloved daughter, Teeonia Lachelle (Flemister) Burton.
Professionally, Gerry was a man of many talents. He spent years working for General Motors as an Assembler, where his hard work and reliability were well-known. His passion for food and cooking led him to a second career as a Chef, a role in which he delighted in creating delicious soul food dishes.
Gerry's zest for life was evident in his hobbies and interests. He was an avid music listener, often found enjoying the latest tunes and exploring the reels on social media. His love for cooking extended into his personal life, where he enjoyed exchanging recipe ideas with his daughter and preparing mouthwatering meals for his family. Gerry was also a natural storyteller, with a knack for entertaining those around him with his humor and wit. He took particular joy in teasing his grandson, Davon Linton, about young love and having a girlfriend.
Family was the cornerstone of Gerry's world. He joins his heavenly family, his parents, Willard and Doris Flemister, and his sister Ellen Flemister, who await him at the gates with open arms. His legacy of love and laughter lives on through his daughter, Teeonia Burton (Jonathan), and his cherished grandchild, Davon, of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by his siblings, Karen Flemister, of East Point, GA, and Eric Flemister of Buffalo, NY, as well as his niece Venna (Ollie) Alford, nephew Eric C. Flemister, and a host of great nieces, great nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss his presence deeply.
As we bid farewell to Gerry Alonzo Flemister, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and the joy of sharing with others. His spirit will forever be a guiding light to his family, and his stories will echo in the hearts of those who loved him. Gerry's journey on earth has concluded, but his impact will resonate for generations to come.
