Pre-K teacher killled in off-road accident

An off-road motor vehicle accident early Sunday morning claimed the life of a 42-year-old Ken-Ton pre-k teacher.

Sherrie Green was with a group of family and friends who were off-road mudding on a private property off Horton Road. It's unclear when she was struck by a jeep that became stuck in the mud. A relatives tells 2 On Your Side, some members of the group was returning from another part of the property and not four-wheeling at the time of the accident.

"She was adventurous, but not reckless," said Pam Green Pace, sister-in-law of the victim.

Green was a pre-k teacher at Hamilton Elementary. She is described as a wonderful, caring teacher. One parent wrote on Facebook about Mrs. Green, "when a parent sends their children off to school, you hope they are getting what they need. Never could we have imagined someone like her could have such an amazing effect on our little boys life. I can never tell him she is gone, it would break his little heart. She helped him be a better student and showed him what a wonderful world we live in."

Green was rushed to Wyoming County Hospital, where the sheriff's office says she died a short time later. Authorities say there are no signs of foul play and no charges are anticipated at this time.
