
LILLINGTON - Mr. Robert Ray Butler, 72, of Lillington passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 at his home.
He was born in Lee County, the son of the late Robert “Bob” Thomas and Euna Kinton Butler. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donnie Coleman Butler and brother, Charles Allen Butler.
Robert served the community in a number of ways including the Anderson Creek Ruritan Club and Flat Branch Volunteer Fire Department. He served as an Elder at Flat Branch Presbyterian Church and also served as a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church. Robert served on the Advisory Board for Western Harnett High School. He worked for Champion Homebuilders for 16 years and pursued a career as a partner with Butler Contractors and Butler Farms. Robert retired from Butler Farms in 2011 due to declining health. He was a life-long farmer who enjoyed working hard and helping the community.
Funeral service were held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Flat Branch Presbyterian Church in Bunnlevel with Dr. Mike Armistead and Rev. Bert Pitchford officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Lisa Butler Bass and husband Ronnie of Lillington, Donna Butler Hadding and husband Hap of Lillington, 5 grandchildren, Kenneth Bass of California, Brittany Bass of Lillington, Logan Hadding and Kyle Hadding both of Lillington, Travis Byrd of Lillington, 2 great-grandchildren, Sophia Dalton and Kaiden Bass both of California, sister, Carol Daskal and husband John of Lillington, brother, Thomas Butler and wife Kay of Lillington, nieces and nephews.
