Edward (Eddy) R. McDonald, age 87 died Monday, September 29, 2014 at Emerald Health & Rehab Center in Lillington.
Eddy was the 6th son of Colin & Sally McDonald. He was a veteran of World War II and retired with 36 years of civilian service with the US Department of Army, Ft. Bragg.
As a lifelong member of Lillington United Methodist Church, he served in many capacities until his health declined. Eddy’s passion was scouting serving as local Scoutmaster for Troop 61 for 20 years with a total of 50 years service in the Occoneechee Council.
Funeral services were held 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 3, 2014 at Lillington United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Nelson and Rev. Lex McDonald officiating. Burial followed in Westview Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife, Helen McArtan McDonald (Class of 1952); son Franklin Ray and wife, Laura of Atlanta, Ga; daughter, Delane Johnson and husband Jim Johnson of Garner; a sister, Nora Blanchard and husband Rudolph of Buies Creek; grandchildren, Brandon McDonald of Atlanta Ga, Bryce McDonald of Birmingham, Al, Megan Johnson and fiancé Carl Martin, Angier, Connor Johnson and Crissa Johnson both of Greenwood, Ar.
