In Memory

Barry Hayes

Barry Hayes

May 27, 1946 to August 24, 2015

Barry suffered a heart attack and died a few hours later.

Barry J. Hayes- May 27, 1946- August 24, 2015. Barry passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2015, from a heart attack surrounded by his family. Barry was a lifetime resident of the Seattle area, a graduate of Highline High School, and Washington State University. Barry was an avid sports fan especially of the Cougs and the Sonics. He was a Sonics season ticket holder for over 30 years. Barry was a long time employee of ABL where he loved his work traveling and interacting with clients. Some of his favorite times were spent with his family on his boat, vacationing in Chelan and enjoying every opportunity for a good Mai Tai. He will be greatly missed by all the people who knew him, especially his family.

Information on Celebration of Life to follow.

Another great Pirate gone.  Barry was always the life of the class, always had something funny to say to lighten things up. He is a good memory of my time at Highline.  I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing.

It's so sad to hear of Barry's passing, I had a wonderful chat with him at the reunion.  We cross paths several times after graduation, his company supplied us with software and support.  Unfortunately, we'll be saying goodby to others only too frequently in the years to come.

Well, crap. Barry was always fun to hang out with. I was saddened to hear this. RIP, OB.

A Burien get-together (photo below) about three years ago. Bob Mayfield, Bill Engelhardt, Larry Landstrom and Barry. You can see the puckish and engaging sense of humor in his smile. We will miss him very much.

A man of straightforward honesty and integrity, bright and inquisitive, a wry quick wit, an unrepentent lib (we would spar good-naturedly and hit the political ball back and forth across the net now and then), and just a hell of joy to be around. He was one of our gang of 12 who jammed into two cars during spring break 1964 and made an epic road trip to southern California. (How'd we ever talk our parents into letting us do that?)

Great memories of Barry in Highschool. He was a great person. He gave me my first bloody nose out on the football field during practice. My face got in the way of his forearm! Saddens me to lose another great pirate and highschool friend. Rest in peace my brother................

Very sad  and unexpected news.  Barry was a great friend in high school.  Many fond memories of our high school years.  He just posted a happy birthday wish on my face book page a couple of days ago, so was a complete shock to learn he had suddenly passed away.  Will miss him greatly.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Connie Purdy (Gilbert)  and Barry Hayes.  May they rest in peace.
