Brent Collette, director at the University of California Berkeley Institute of Religion for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died in Concord, CA. He was 54.

A native of Salt Lake City, he grew up in Seattle, WA, and has lived in Concord, CA for 15 years. He earned degrees at University of Washington and Brigham Young University. A member and former Bishop of the Clayton Valley Third Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he enjoyed bicycle riding, water skiing and writing.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lorna; daughters, Melissa Marie Collette of Provo and Bethany Jean Grace Collette of Concord, CA; sons, Brandon Brent Collette of Provo, Craig Spencer Collette and Jared Peterson Collette both of Rexburg, ID; and Joshua DeLorne Collette of Concord. Dear son of Dale D. and Grace Collette of Seattle, brother of Craig Collette of San Marino, CA., Barry Collette of Federal Way, WA., and Kevin Collette of Issaquah, WA.

Graveside services, 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 16, 2000 at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery, Salt Lake City. A memorial will follow at 11 a.m. at the Mill Stream Ward Chapel, 3400 So. 1100 East, Salt Lake City. Memorial donations to the Brent Collette Memorial Fund, C/O Mechanics Bank, 1350 North Main St., Walnut Creek, CA. 94596.

I still think of Brent each time I go by his folks house.  He was a good and caring friend.
