Seeing Jim's passing grieves me. We were such good friends and neighbors from grade school through high school. Both of our fathers died around the same time while we were juniors in high school. We hung out together with Bob Mayfield and Chris Mitchell. We had great fun together. Jim was a FDR fan and a loyal leftey. When GW became President he seemed to become very polarized on his political ideals. He withdrew from all social interfaces with the rest of us, including Bob. Bob's family was amazed that suddenly Jim no longer visited them.
We all will die someday. Jim never came back to the close friendship circle that we all once had together. I will miss our lively intellectual dialogues and your companionship even though you withdrew from our social band of brothers with no explanation of your decision to disengage from all of us. Love you, brother. I regret not being able to say goodbye to you. God speed, my dear old friend.

Although I did not know Jim in High School, I am saddened to hear of his passing.
I am sincerely sorry for the loved ones he leaves behind.
