On September 11, 2021, JoAnn Sagar passed away at the age of 75.

JoAnn was born on July 9, 1947 to Mario and Dorothy DePiano in Seattle, Washington. She was their only child but was raised surrounded by her large extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She loved talking about growing up in this close family.

JoAnn attended Sunnydale Elementary, Sunset Junior High and Highline High school. In junior high, she met her future husband, Richard (Rick) Luthy and they married August 30, 1963. Rick and JoAnn had three children Erin, Mari & Mark.

In the last 30 years, JoAnn has made her life in Des Moines. She worked at several local establishments including the Yard Arm where she eventually retired. She enjoyed being a grandma, but was ecstatic to be a great grandmother.

JoAnn is survived by her children Erin (Galen) House, Mari (Ken) Milligan, Mark (Kim) Luthy, Grandchildren Mario House (Cerise), Katie (Dylan) Hall, Ashley Luthy, Sophie Luthy and her great granddaughters Addisyn & Maisyn Hall.

JoAnn, who was passionate about dogs and their rescue, also leaves behind her beloved Bella, her companion and buddy for the last 12 years. 

She was loved and will be missed by the entire family.
