DENISON - Lawrence M. "Ace" Parker Jr., 86, of Denison, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2010 at Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ in Sherman.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Waples United Methodist Church, 830 W. Main St. in Denison with Rev. Mike Nichols officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard St., Denison. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Cook-Walden Capitol Parks Cemetery, 14501 North IH 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.

Ace was born was born on April 18, 1924 in Bremerton, Wash. to Lawrence Maxwell Parker Sr. and Isabell Kennedy Parker. He married Bertha Mae Franzetti Parker on June 24, 1946. They were married for 64 years. Ace graduated from the University of Texas in 1953 and started a career in coaching and teaching that lasted 40 years. He touched many lives during that period.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha of Denison; one son John and his wife Rebecca of Denison; two daughters, Vicki Fulfer of Austin and Terri Bolin and her husband Dale of Austin; one brother, Gene of Austin; one sister, Virginia of Boerne; six grandchildren, Chad and Rachel Taylor, Courtney Barker, Chance Fulfer, Erin Bolin, Stengel Parker and Dustin Bolin; four great-grandchildren, Pierce Barker, Parker Taylor, Keegan Bolin and Hudson Taylor.
