I never met a person who was funnier then Bob Carll.   To this day, my kids have heard some of the stories that originated from Mr Carll.   Always a prankster, in a good way, just so the rest of us could laugh...

From the long nights cooking with him at Perkins in Eagan, to his days of working at Diamond T Ranch, to playing football over at Cedar Elementary School.   Bob loved the rough stuff and wasn't afraid (friend or not) to set you on your a$$ in the friendly confines of sandlot football.   But most of all, Bob Carll loved to make people laugh...

One night,  while both of us were cooking at Perkins.  Of Course he does this during the busiest time, right in the middle of bar rush at 2 o'clock in the morning.  He looks over at me, "Hey Woody - check this out, guess who I am"?   He then takes an 8 oz raw steak, stuffs the whole thing in his mouth making sure there was a gross chunk of it still sticking out of his mouth and in perfect accent...   "I'm Igor!"   "And I love to eat Raw Meat Master".    I know you had to be there, but the look on his face has me laughing now remembering that.

And who could ever forget his monumentally popular "Joe Cool" cartoons drawn all over the school.   You all remember them, right?   That was Bob Carll.   He may have had an accomplice or two, but "Joe Cool" was Bob Carll.   And yeah, he got his rear in a sling for that one, but we had laughs over it and that was what Bob Carll was all about.

He made us all laugh!

He was always a good friend to many of us.   And as you can see, he is still in my memory and he is still in my thoughts.

I grew up across the street from "Bobby".  He was always full of trouble when we were young.  I will never forget his dad (Mac) screaming at a couple of us for burying Bobby in their sandbox up to his neck.  We played a lot of doorbell ditch and softball in our court (Amber), but never hung in the same circles as we got older.  He was full of life and he fought the good fight.  The Carll family are good people.
