Born June 28, 1956, in Butler, he was the son of the late Frank L. and Marie A. (Yenkala) Ford.
He worked for the B&LE Railroad from 1975 to 1984 and then worked for Keystone Aluminum Resources until the plant closed. Mike worked for the Watco Co. at AK Steel, Butler Works, on the railroad from May 2003 until he became ill.
Mike was an expert craftsman and loved to fix things. His passions were woodworking, auto body painting, music and movies. He also had played the drums.
He is survived by two children, Heather Ford of Pittsburgh and Chad Ford of New York; three brothers, Terrance (Kelly) and Daniel (Jody) of Butler and David (Dottie) of Bel Air, Md.; and a sister, Kathleen Ford of Big Pine Key, Fla. Also surviving is Marcey Kim, his friend and girlfriend of 14 years, who also was his loving caregiver.
FORD — There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass for Michael K. Ford, who died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Butler.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation to the American Cancer Society in Mike's name.
An additional memorial service may be held later.
