Michael Dwayne Halvorsen died Monday, Dec. 25, 2006 — Christmas Day.

Mike was born on Dec. 30, 1970, in Butte, the son of Wayne and Donna (Mehring) Halvorsen.

Mike is probably best remembered as the smiling face in the kitchen of several Butte restaurants, including the Flying J Travel Plaza, the Gold Rush, the Hanging 5 Family Restaurant, Ray’s Place, and, most recently, Annie’s Café. He was handy with a hammer as well as a spatula, and also worked in construction.

Mike was a wonderful combination of outdoorsman, friend, and family man who was perfectly suited for the Montana lifestyle. He was the kind of man who loved everybody and showed it in a million ways. He loved to hunt, fish and camp; enjoyed the rugged beauty of the Montana landscape. Monster trucks were his passion. But more than a trophy elk, a blue ribbon trout or an ear-deafening monster truck rally, the greatest love of his life was his children and his family.

Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Halvorsen; nieces, Melissa and Josie Mae Halvorsen; aunts and uncles, William and Vivian Halvorsen, Roland and Babe Mehring, and Richard Mehring; and Grandma Wolff.

He is survived by the love of his life, Annie Bahr; daughters, Jessica, Rachael and Mikelle; son, Donavan; and stepchildren, Sonja and Sammie Bahr. He will also be missed by his parents, Wayne and Donna Halvorsen; Annie’s parents, Gary and Peggy Perdue, his uncles and aunts, Delores Weller, Floyd and Patti Halvorsen, Erving Halvorsen, Bonnie Mehring and Jean Halvorsen, and numerous cousins and cherished friends.

I knew Mike my whole life from Emerson annex on... He was always a good friend. I saw him every time I came home because he worked at my dad and I's favorite bar Ray's place. He and Annie were true friends when my dad passed away. I am sure he is missed by all.. I hope he is having a beer with my dad as we speak..
