Robert Alan Fuller

Born January 26, 1957 in Camden, Arkansas

Passed Away May 13, 1997 in Lake Charles, Louisiana

Graduated from Stephen F. Austin University and was a Sales Representative for The Valvoline Company at the time of his death.

Preceded in death by parents Lindell and Muriel Coates Fuller.

Survived by son Joshua Fuller, former wife Margaret, brother Lynn Fuller, stepmother Evelyn Fuller, and aunt Viola Thompson, and numerous other relatives, friends and co-workers.

My earliest fond memory of Robert occured after we'd walked to his house after school in the 4th or 5th grade.  We were in his kitchen eating sandwiches when "Good Lovin" by the Young Rascals began playing on the radio.  Robert started dancing around like he was on fire, and I thought that he was a lunatic!  Robert was one of my best friends through high school and beyond.  We were in Boy Scouts and enjoyed hiking and camping trips; we played lots of golf during the summer, played basketball in his driveway countless times, and whenever he got a new LP or 8-track tape he'd want me to listen to it.  For a white boy Robert had a lot of soul - ya'll know exactly what I mean.  If nothing else was happening we'd go riding around in that GM truck of his.  Later in life Robert would call up maybe once a month and always begin the conversation with "Hey."  Robert and I were as different as night and day but that made our friendship even stronger.  He was like a brother to me - an interesting, unique, cool, nutty brother - and I miss him.  I hope that he and Marc Hart are sharing a cold one right now.

Hey! - OleBuddy, OleBuddy, OleBuddy, OlePal!

I listen to some old great tunes of yore (the Golden Era of Rock: the 70's!) and think fondly of you! - jumpin' out of that Big Souped-up Green GMC Truck - the Dough-nut-Maker! - and jukin'.  We are laughing hysterically.  We weren't "sippin on gin 'n juice"; we were at THE SONIC mixin' up our own Cherry Vodkas.

I think of you too when I look and listen to your Son.  Yeah, he 'let's his mouth overload his Ass' like you now and then.  I took hard at him and can almost see those two red marks under his right eye where the fire-cracker marked you.

You are proud of him now, a Prince of a young man, a recent college graduate.  He began his first day of work, nice shirt and tie.  He looked magnificent.  He reminded me of myself.  Jus' kidd'n!  Sorry.  You know me - ya old Buddy.

Warm, heart-felt thoughts and memories abide.

When we moved from the Love Addition neighborhood over onto Sharp Avenue after my father died, I lived 2 doors down from Robert.  Robert and I got to know each other a lot better because we spent more time with each other, whether it was playing basketball or listening to music or just sitting in his driveway talking.

My memories of Robert remind me of how much he loved music and his friends.  Via Robert I got closer to both Doug Jones and Joe Miller and ALWAYS loved being around those 3 guys.  Their combined senses of humor and intellect were alot of fun and enriched my life.  There is a story about Doug, Joe and Robert that has become legendary regarding their camping out behind Robert's house.  The story has grown so much that the details become foggy and exaggerated but my memories have captured some VERY FUNNY moments that I will remember forever.  Joe Miller and Doug Jones have helped me in remembering the proper details and I appreciate their versions.

Robert was a genuine man, a true friend and a lover of music (especially Emerson, Lake & Palmer)!!...Thank you Robert for enriching my life.
