Salvatore "Sal" Apuzzo, age 86, of Clintondale entered into rest on Thursday, March 22, 2007 after a most courageous and lengthy battle with multiple health failures.

Mr. Apuzzo was born January 4, 1921 in Ardonia, he was the son of the late Alphonso and the late Jennie (Raia) Apuzzo. In his youth, he was an avid baseball player and later a spectator of the game, as well as enjoying league bowling.

On August 17, 1952, in Modena Methodist Church he married Bernice E. Every who survives.

A devoted family man, he leaves his son, Rodney Apuzzo and his wife, Janet; and his cherished grandchildren, Alexandra and Ari. He is also survived by nephews, cousins and caring nieces.

He is predeceased by his sisters: Mary Thompson, Lucy Eichler, and Marion Bianco; and his brothers: Jimmy, Tommy, and Robert Apuzzo.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in England, the D-Day Normandy Invasion, and Germany. Sal was a former member of the Lions Club and currently of the New Paltz Elks and A.A.R.P..

After many years he retired from his business Apuzzo Apple Farms, Ardonia, in 1988. Although born in, and lifetime resident of Ardonia, he and his wife had numerous splendid travels throughout the U.S. and overseas. How lovingly missed you'll be!

Calling hours will be Sunday, March 25, 2007 from 1-4 p.m. at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 So. Putt Corners Rd., New Paltz.

The funeral will be Monday, March 26, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Route 44/55, Gardiner, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Bob Panek. Burial will follow in Modena Rural Cemetery, Rte 32, Modena.
