SHONTY, George Emanuel

George Emanuel Shonty, 87, husband of the late Grace (Topazio) Shonty of Middletown, died Tuesday, (December 4, 2001) at the Middlesex Hospital. He was born in Hartford, son of the late Sebastian and Salvatrice (Catana) Shonty. He was an Air Force Veteran of World War II and the Korean War.  Prior to his retirement he was employed by Connecticut Valley Hospital  having retired in 1979. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judith  and James Poole of Middletown; a step grandson and his wife, James and  Nicole Poole of Newtonville, MA; a step son and his wife, David and Susan  Poole; and grandson Silas of Newton, MA; a brother, Sol Shonty of Florida;  two sisters, Michele Gerilatis and Mary Cappello, both of Middletown. He is  predeceased by his brothers, Lewis, Sebastian and James Shonty and sister,  Josephine Rossitto. Funeral Services will be held Friday, 12 Noon, at the  D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., Middletown. Burial will be private  and at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the  funeral home Friday, 11 a.m. until time of the service. Donations in his  memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr.,  Wallingford.
