Arlie Peter Anderson, 77, of North Attleboro, MA passed away on April 23, 2025, at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the beloved husband of the late Jane Ann (Turner) Anderson to whom he was married on May 13, 1972, and who died on January 31, 2023.
Born on May 6, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, he was a son of the late Karl Anderson and the late Dorothy (Dornseif) Anderson. He was raised and educated in both Chicago, Illinois and San Jose, California.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.
Mr. Anderson held many jobs during his professional career, having worked for Chrysler as a Regional Sales Manager when living in the Pacific Northwest, continuing the Anderson family tradition in the food service industry as a Food Service Director at Andover Newton Theological School and his most recent job in the United States Postal Service at Taunton, MA.
In earlier years, he and his family attended the First "Old Town" Congregational Church in North Attleboro, MA.
Always involved in his son's activities, he was a proud Scout Leader for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 23 in North Attleboro, MA, organized the first Chuck Wagon Pete at Camp Norse and attended the 1989 National Jamboree. He was also a volunteer coach for the North Attleboro Little League for many years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting/shooting, camping, reading and was a lifelong lover of animals. He considered his family as an achievement he was most proud of and was an avid follower of his two grandson's adventures in skiing, fishing, soccer, reading and school.
He leaves his son: Eric Gunnar Anderson and his wife, Jillian Marie (McQuade) Anderson, of Littleton, MA; two grandchildren: Tyler A. Anderson and Oliver F. Anderson both of Littleton, MA; his siblings: Carl Anderson and his wife, Jan Anderson, in North Carolina and Mary Ann Anderson in California and several nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Mr. Anderson was the brother of the late Carol Marcum and her late husband, Earl Marcum and the late Marie Benthin.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA. A time of reflection will immediately follow visitation.
Private committal services with military honors will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA where he will be laid to rest with his cherished wife.
Please omit flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the North Attleboro Animal Shelter, 43 South Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA and be sure to put his name in the memo field.
