Victor Ira Small passed away on July 9, 2017, peacefully surrounded by his family at Saratoga Retirement Community. At 88, he succumbed to complications of Parkinson's disease and prostate cancer.
Born in San Francisco on May 13, 1929 to Victor and Kay Small, Vic lived in Sonora and San Jose. He served in the Navy and played the drums in the band during the Korean War.
On June 22, 1957 he married Carol and they spent 60 wonderful years together, as members of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior. He graduated from San Jose State with a MA in education and taught history in the Campbell Union High School district.
Vic was involved in the student teaching program at Stanford but supported Spartans' Football team and music programs.
Vic had a passion for history and music and enjoyed being a docent at Mission Santa Clara. He loved the outdoors and brought his family on yearly vacations to Pinecrest Lake.
Vic was survived by his wife, Carol, children Terry, Tim (Dondu) , Julie (Bob), Susan (Kevin) and 10 Grandchildren He was predeceased by his brother, Doug.
Services will be held Friday, July 14 at 2:30pm at Lutheran Church of Our Savior-5825 Bollinger Road, Cupertino. Reception to follow.
