Bob was a good guy, a real smart student and a pretty good athlete.  After playing basketball and baseball at both Campbell and Westmont High Schools, Bob played on Cal's freshman basketball team and later as a pitcher on Cal's varsity baseball team.  Thank you to Colin Preston for letting us know about Bob's passing--sad news though it is.  Bob and I were roommates in the dorm during our freshman year at Cal.   May Bob rest in peace.

Bob & I used to head out on Friday or Saturday night road trips in our Junior & Senior years ... no destination, just rolling down the highway and talking. We'd loop up to the City and back, over to the Coast, out to Tracy, etc. Our furthest leg was up to Petaluma and back one foggy night. Jeff Wilson and I paid him a quick visit in Carson City some six years ago. I missed losing that connection with him many years back. Rest easy, friend.

I am truly sorry to learn of Bob's passinbg. Bob and I were friends during our years at Campbell Junior High  and Campbell and Westmont High.  I will never forget his befriending me when I first moved to Saratoga. We shared many classes together and he was a really smart guy. We also played basketball together ( well he played and I mostly watched from the bench ) . I was also good friends with his brother Jim . Sadly we lost touch after graduation.  Sounds like he enjoyed a good career and the fact that he was so devoted to his mother does not surprise and speaks well of his character. rest well my friend.

I'm both shocked and saddened by the untimely passing of Bob Fancher. He left this world much too early. I echo the comments of both Chip and Paul. Bob was indeed, smart, funny and competitive. I shared a number of classes with Bob at Westmont but the majority of my interactions with Bob were on the basketball court. I used to spend a lot of time playing one-on-one with Bob and he and I played alongside each other for Westmont's Basketball team.We shared a lot of fun times and he will be sorely missed.Rest in peace Bob.
