reunion plans
Posted Saturday, August 14, 2010 03:06 PM

Hey Guys...I wanna see what everyone has in mind for reunion plans.....To be honest w/everyone I was not thinking of planning anything formal...I work a lot plus I'm 5 months pregnant so my energy level is not @ its best. Here is what my vote would be....

  • get together before the game to eat...@my husband's reunion they have arranged to have something like a tailgate@the high school before the game/or even go out to eat somewhere like Rudy's that's close by
  • Go to the game
  • Maybe everyone can meet @ a bar afterwards...

Of course this is only my opinion and you guys might like something else....i would love to hear anyone else's ideas....

We don't have a fund available to us so something formal would be tough.........Help w/ideas please!!

Hey Cyndi,

Long time no see!!! congrats on the lil one!!!

I think what you've got written so far sounds good. The tailgating sounds awesome.

I'd be willing to dish out some money for something on Saturday.. dont know how many others would be willing... but maybe if we wanted to do something on Saturday everyone could throw in 25-30 bucks depending on what ideas get tossed around.

I think maybe trying to get a head count will also help out.. just so that nobody's wasting their timeplanning  (if nobody is going to show)... IM IN!

Hey Cyndi,

Just as Marcus has said...everything sounds good. Im looking forward to it. As well, I'll probably enjoy getting together before the game and then possibly anticipating some form of get to gether on Saturday as well...not sure were but maybe just something simple where we could all just chill and catch up... Im not to crazy about getting together at a bar but..anything else would be cool.  Well, thanks for structuring everything...hope all is well!! Be bless

Well you know my status... I'm not 100% sure I can make it but if I can get into town I will be there & help you out with whatever :) I know its tough trying to get this together especially being pregnant so don't get all stressed. It doesn't have to be so formal. We can just do the tailgate & game and then decide if we want to do anything after the game & Saturday depending on the show of people. Luv ya!

Richie and I are coming into to town for the weekend also.  The tailgate and game are a given. We are totally in!  As for Saturday, what if we do something low key like reserving a section of a restaurant. Depending on how many are willing to attend, we could reserve the space for appetizers and drinks or even a sit down dinner. It would be ideal to sort of recreate a homecoming like event, but a space at a restaurant, a vineyard or a small hall would be neat. Depending on the number attending, $30 - $50 per person would surly cover dinner, music and the venue. If we can get the word out and get a head count, I can find some options for the venue. Any thoughts?

Hey Everyone,

I’m excited to see the response we’ve gotten about the reunion!

Here is what the plan is so far.

Homecoming Day October 8th

Tailgate

Meet @ the high school @ 5pm for a tailgate on the softball fields behind the football stadium

I was thinking it would probably be easiest if we just each bring whatever we wanna throw on the grill/drinks since we’re not sure how many of us it’ll be.  I can bring a large grill to cook on depending on how many of us there are someone else can bring another one.

We can bring some balls and stuff to play w/the kids and just catch up w/each other.

The game starts @7pm and Mr. Hurd the assistant principal said he will have a section blocked off for us @ the stadium.   (He also asked me to remind everyone that we can’t have alcohol/smoking there)

I would like some input into how much more we want to do for that day…it can be as informal as mentioned above or we can get together and make posters…buy t-shirts online to wear…have food @ the game for us… and any other ideas you guys might have.

Saturday

A couple of you have showed some interest into planning something for Saturday.  I don’t do much partying these days would anyone like to be in charge of planning the Saturday event?

I would suggest that something be set up where everyone meets up somewhere; I liked Stella’s idea of a restaurant.   My concern with a more formal event would be lack of interest and the expense (I attended the 1997 reunion w/my husband and it seemed like a lot of work and not many people were there, afterwards we went out to a club and there seemed to be more people there and everyone was more relaxed).

Please post your ideas cause we are only 3 weeks away!

I think Stella has a great idea about dinner on Saturday...something nice and relax would be great...which would give more time for everyone to enjoy the down time and all but looking forward to it and congrads Cindy on the little one!! I'll see you all there.

Hello everyone,  Its so neat to see everyone's families. I hope we can make this reunion a great one. I was talking to a graduate of 89 and she told me her class and the class of 90 are going to be at the Homecoming game. So we need to make sure the class of 00 is well represented! My husband knows the owner of the Horny Toad well (Its a country bar on the west side)if we are interested I can see if he could give us a deal on drinks and maybe mix up the music.  If we wanted we could cater something out? Or I know that the Artivinos Crossing has a little banquet hall and we can have dinner buffet style or a nice sit down full course thing. That may be a little more expensive. We would need music if we wanted dancing so maybe a DJ?  We really need to figure something out very soon so we can reserve a place. What do you think? By the way all I was suggesting would be for Saturday. Where is everyone? We need to start networking. I think this could be really fun!

Richie and I can bring two grills for the tailgate also. I think potluck style should workout great. I am ready and willing to help set things up for Saturday plans. Although, it seems like others may have better connections in-town than I do. So, perhaps we can at least start with a headcount for plans on Saturday. This will help us decide what to do or where to meet. I can be the contact for the headcount. If anybody knows of classmates who are not on this website or facebook, please forward the info.

Please send RSVPs to me at stellakastl@sbcglobal.net or by text at 915-328-5653. Yup, I still have the El Paso Number!! :)

I'm gonna meet w/Mr Hurd today to see the area that we'll be meeting @.

I was hoping to meet @ the school around 430-445 to set up the area for us.  It will be @ the soft ball fields which are behind the football field.  We will also have a spot sectioned out for us on the right end of the stadium. Anyone wanna help out?

I have 2 large tables, 1 large gril, 1 huge ice chest, and 1 pop-up shade....I don't have chairs so if everyone can bring one for themselves that would help.

I was planning on making some posters we can hang in the area that we'll be @ for the game, maybe against the wall.  I thougt about maybe a couple of balloons too???  I bought some noise makes/silly string for the game....Just so we can make a lot of noise to support the team.

I like the idea on the shirts but it may be too late to order? ??

If anyone has another pop-up shade that would help...

I'll post more ideas tomorrow after I meet w/Mr Hurd.

I'm thinking w/our gril and stella & richards we should be good.  Everyone just bring something to grill, I'll probably bring burgers and hot dogs, chips, a pasta salad and some drinks.  Anyone can put drinks into my ice chest i'll have ice there too.

Should we buy a cake maybe?

If you'd like to text me your # i can send out any info via text too... my # is 915-731-2244.

I'm excited to see everyone!

I'll be there to help... and I'll drag Stubs out there with me.

I'll check on the shirts to see if we can still put in a small order.. maybe 20-25 shirts... dont know how many people for sure are gonna be there.. but they can be first come first serve.

Thanks for meeting with him Cyndi!!!!

See ya soon

Good point Jesus! Maybe less is more for the tailgate. Richie and I will be taking one canopy and at least one grill. Does anyone have all the 1999-2000 jams? It would be fun to reminisce and listen to our "kick back" songs! Just a thought.

As for t-shirts, I found a company who will rush the order for us. It will be ~$15 per shirt: Orange, "Canutillo High School" and the Eagle on the front, and something written on the back...that part is still open to suggestions until Monday. "Class of 2000...Reunion", "...all I got was this stinkin' t-shirt"...etc. Below are the three eagle images that we can choose from. Please let me know what do you all think? So, who wants me to order them a t-shirt? Send me an email at stellakastl@sbcglobal.net  I will place the final order on Monday based on the feedback I get.

T-shirt count so far:

-Richie

-Marcus

-Stella

Jenny, were you able to find out about your friend's bar? Otherwise, we can just play it by ear for saturday.
