Paul Buckles

Sgt. Paul A. Buckles, 57, of Amarillo died Friday, May 30, 2014.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hillside Christian Church West Campus Auditorium with Kevin Oakley, pastor of Mescalero Baptist Church, and Danny Mize, pastor of Fellowship of Believers in Hereford, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Sgt. Buckles was born Sept. 25, 1956, in Amarillo. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1975. He served in the Air Force as a security police officer over silo missiles. He started working for Potter County Sheriff’s department in March 1988. Through his tenure, he clocked 2,600 hours of training. He held a master jailer and peace officer license through Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Sgt. Buckles served 26 years with the sheriff’s department. He was a singer and a song writer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Merrill and a brother, Steve.

Survivors include a son, Jack E. Buckles; his sisters, Cynthia Fesler and Susan Dunlap; his brothers, Daniel Buckles and wife Donna, Bill Scott and wife Debi, Chuck Scott and wife Corina, James Scott and wife Sharon, and Pat Scott and wife LaRae; his mother, Carolyn Buckles; his stepmother, Estelle Buckles; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews.
