AUSTIN - William Joseph "Bill" Luquette, 46, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004.

A tribute to William's life was held Thursday, Aug. 19. A celebration of William's life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul Evangelical church hall in Canyon. He wished to be buried beside his grandparents, Fred and Eva Beasley, at Spring Hill. Arrangements are by Harrell Funeral Home.

Mr. Luquette was born in Corpus Christi on Nov. 23, 1957, at Spohn Hospital. He was raised in Corpus, Brenham, College Station and Canyon and had lived in Austin for several years. He attended Alamo Catholic High School and graduated from Canyon High School.

He later returned to Canyon to earn his bachelor of arts degree from West Texas A&M in sociology. He was a senator in student government and recognized for outstanding service, loyalty and devotion to the university. He worked with Mildred Blake to earn credit for his certified counseling license, LCDC.

He went on to earn his master's degree in sociology, MAT, from Southwest Texas State in San Marcos all the time working in various counseling jobs for credits. He knew the pain and suffering of that way of life and was passionate about his work by being a devoted counselor.

He was working for the PushUp Foundation, Inc. in Austin, a drug and alcohol resident rehab program as a clinical supervisor. William's special interests outside of work were bike riding, architecture, old movies and classical music.

Survivors include his parents, Margaurette Luquette of Canyon and A.J. Luquette of Amarillo; a brother, A.J. "Joe" Luquette of Bastrop: three sisters, Patty Maynard and husband, Vernon, and Pebbie Comer and husband, Mickey, all of Canyon, and Gina Iesu and husband, Dan, of New Town, Conn.; five beloved nephews; two beloved nieces; a very special Aunt Ruth of Granbury; and additional aunts, uncles, cousins, a host of close friends and his faithful companion, dog Nettie.

The family suggests memorials be to the David Powell Clinic, 4614 N. I-35, Austin, TX 78751 or a favorite charity in William's name.
