Joseph Leon Dibling, 73, passed away on May 16, 2020, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio. Joe was born on August 22, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio, to Anthony (Tony) and Emma Dibling. He graduated from Carey High School, Carey, Ohio, in 1965. Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1968, including service in Vietnam. Following his military service, Joe was employed at Porcelain Products, in Carey, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dolores (James) Holdgreve. Surviving are his sisters, Madonna Dibling, Columbus, Ohio, Mary (Jan) Hill, Hillsdale, Michigan, and a brother, Anthony (Tony) Dibling, Batavia, Illinois. His survivors include his brother-in-law James Holdgreve and his many nieces and nephews.
Joe enjoyed reading, watching old movies and listening to music from the 50’s and 60’s. He enjoyed the many activities offered by the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, where he attended weekly Mass.
His family will be forever grateful to the medical personnel, and the staff and social workers at the Ohio Veterans Home for the excellent care Joe received while a resident there. They wish to thank Stein Hospice for their kindness and care given to Joe during his short illness, and the nurses, doctors and staff at Firelands Regional Medical Center. God bless them all.
Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, Ohio is handling arrangements for cremation and internment.
A memorial Mass and Internment at St. Mary’s cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ohio chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in care of the funeral home, or to your local food bank during this pandemic.
