Judith Hershman
Judith R. Hershman, 63, Carey, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at 1:54 a.m. at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
She was born April 27, 1947, in Tiffin, daughter of the late John A. and Elizabeth (Myers) Greer.
She married Jerry Hershman on Oct. 26, 1968, at Our Lady of Consolation Church, Carey, and he survives in Carey.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tracy (Terry) Moran, Susan (Rich) Southward, both of Carey, a son, William "Billy" (Sarah) Hershman, Alvada; nine grandchildren, Loren Powers, Jacob Moran, Madeline Moran, Zach Moran, Ellie and Whitney Southward, Will Hershman, Max Hershman and Ava Hershman; her brothers and sisters; Deanna (Richard) Phillips, Susanne Walter, Carey; Joe (Barb) Greer, Massachusetts; Mollie (Rich) Evans, Carey, and Jim (Carol) Greer, Florida.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, John Guy Greer and Tom Greer.
Judy was a 1965 graduate of Carey High School. She was an insert technician at The Progressor-Times in Carey for many years, and worked at McDonald's in Carey for two years.
She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church where she was the prayer chain leader. She was a member of T.O.P.S.
She was "Nana" to many children in Carey over the years. Family was important, but her grandchildren were everything.
Always the giver, Judy continued to give in death by being an organ and tissue donor.
A mass of Christian burial was held at Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, Monday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Faroh, OFM Conv., officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey, at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Consolation School in care of Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home.
