I remember Ellen best from 5th grade. We lived on the Quail Lodge golf course, a few houses away from each other. We'd ride bikes and play Barbies and hang out. I was always sad to see her go when her family would go to Oregon during part of the summer. She loved yellow, and her room was a bright yellow plaid wallpaper with yellow in all the accessories. She had just started playing the flute in school, and I played the piano and we'd try to duet. My family moved in to Carmel and Ellen and I didn't see other much at Middle due to the schedules, but we remained friendly throughout school. I talked to her last a few years before the 20th reunion, and her medical issues had made it difficult to remember some of her past friends, but we reached way back to that early time and she was excited to recall many of our childhood escapades. I knew her parents well, and I'm so sorry they lost their lovely daughter so young.
