Robert W. Becker Obituary

Robert W. Becker

September 26, 1951 – March 29, 2025

Robert W. Becker, of Batavia, IL, passed away peacefully at home on March 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pam; their daughters, Amy (Michael Karl) and Laura (Mike Lucas); and his cherished grandson, Noah Karl, who dearly loves his Papa. He was the beloved son of the late Nola and Wally Becker and the dear brother of the late Terry Becker.

Bob’s early years were shaped by his involvement in Boy Scout Troop 69, where he earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, completing 23 merit badges along the way. His lifelong passion for trains was a defining part of his life, leading him to a successful 48-year career at Electro-Motive Division (EMD). Bob was so well-loved and respected at EMD that colleagues often joked, “We all worked for Bob.” His enthusiasm for trains extended beyond work, fueling his lifelong hobby of model railroading.

A dedicated student and professional, Bob earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Kettering University, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, and an MBA in Business from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT).

Bob's legacy is one of love, dedication, and a passion for both his family and his work. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 26th with visitation from 10am-12pm, service at 12pm. The service will be live streamed at the following link:
