Deceased Name:  Mary L. Ghastin of Marengo

The funeral service for Mary L. Ghastin, 57 will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 6821 Main Street, Union. Pastor Norm Meyer and Pastor Caleb Schauer will officiate. Interment will be private. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday, at the church. Born Sept. 19, 1951, in Chicago, the daughter of Fred and Mary (nee Musa) Mueller, she died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at her home. Mary married Richard D. Ghastin in Dundee on May 27, 1972. She worked for many years for Grayhill in Carpentersville as a factory supervisor where she made many good friends. She was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Union. Mary enjoyed gardening and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a wonderful grandmother who was looking forward to teaching her oldest grandson how to drive. She is survived by two sons, Matt (Jenny) Ghastin and Michael (Jennifer Bachleda) Ghastin, all of Marengo; her grandchildren, Matthew Jr., Noah, Grace, and Lilli; her father Fred (Dixie) Mueller of Florida; her sister, Jenny (Fred) Hernandez of Alabama; and her niece and nephews, Kyle and Carlos Hernandez, and Brittany Mueller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her other Mary; and her brother, Rick Mueller. Memorials may be made to the family.
