Johnny Blair

Johnny Neal Blair
CARTHAGE-Johnny Neal Blair, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was born on September 16, 1948 and passed away on August 19, 2024 at the age of 75 at his home in Longview, TX with his devoted wife, Trisha Blair, by his side. John is also survived by his sister, Jan Blair of Longview, TX, three children, Rufus Blair of Campbell, CA; Donna Perry of Springfield, VA, and Chris Smith of Flower Mound, TX, who will forever cherish his memory. He was also a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, Catherine (28), Robert (25), Kalyssa (23), Caleb (20), Rachel (20), Joshua (16) Elizabeth (16), Neil (13), and all of whom brought him immense joy.
A native of Carthage, Johnny dominated the football field for Carthage High School before continuing his athletic career at Texas Christian University. His passion for football was only matched by his dedication to his work. After his time on the field, he spent many years working in the oil field, where he built a reputation for his hard work and perseverance. Later, he found his true calling in the medical field as an ER nurse, where he met his beloved Trisha.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Johnny was a man of the outdoors. He found peace and happiness in nature, whether it was shooting, fishing, or simply enjoying the beauty of the world around him. His love for the outdoors was something he passed on to his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His strength, love, and dedication to his family and friends were evident in every aspect of his life. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
At Johnny’s request, a celebration of his life will be held on September 7, 2024, at Duke’s Fish Shack at 12:30 PM. All are welcome to join us in sharing stories and memories (there are quite a few) over a meal. To keep things simple, we kindly ask that each guest cover the cost of their own meal.
