Kevin L. Rogers

MONTICELLO, Iowa - Kevin L. Rogers , 25, 10141 Richland Road, Monticello, died at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 1996, at his home in rural Monticello, from complications of Muscular Dystrophy.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade , with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade , where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m.

He was born on July 16, 1971, in Dubuque, son of Howard and Carolyn (Fisher) Rogers .

He was a 1989 graduate of Cascade High School and a 1991 graduate of Northeast Iowa Community College, with a degree in bookkeeping and accounting.

Kevin liked sports, especially the Bears and Cubs, the University of Iowa football and Notre Dame football. Kevin was the Easter Muscular Dystrophy Poster Child for East Iowa in 1977 and for the State of Iowa in 1978.

Surviving are his parents, Howard and Carolyn Rogers , of rural Monticello; a brother, Michael Rogers , of Monticello; a sister, Bernadette (Pete) Merchlewitz, of St. Charles, Minn.; and his maternal grandparents, Winford and Hazel Fisher, of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Sean Rogers , on May 10, 1972; and his paternal grandparents, Charles and Margaret Rogers .

In lieu of flowers, a Kevin L. Rogers Memorial Fund has been established.
