Karen and I were friends from 3rd until she passed away. I spoke to her a couple of months before she passed away and promised to see each other at an upcoming reunion. I was visiting her mother and her mother thought it would be nice to call Karen and let the two of us talk. Karen was a very nice that I considered a friend and I think of every time I'm in Casper and drive by her family's home on Coffman. It's sad that many of our brightest and most capable classmates have passed on.

Karen was so smart and so funny -- she was always the most fun to be around. She and I worked on the yearbook together and we spent most of our time together laughing. We saw each other a few times after graduation and I always admired her positive attitude throgh some really tough times. She spent her last few years in Seattle while I was living in Portland, OR and we always meant to get together again -- I'm sad and sorry that we never did. I was shocked and surprised at herearly death. I'll always have happy memories of Karen -- Franceen Marshall Hopkins

I think we all remember how smart Karen was, but some of us were fortunate to enjoy her sharp wit and fun-loving side as well. Karen traveled with my parents and me to the Seattle World’s Fair in the summer of 1962. That three-week trip provided many memories of a good friendship. Unfortunately, I lost track of Karen when I left Wyoming in 1964, but I have since learned that she traveled far and bravely faced difficult challenges. She was a bright light too soon extinguished, and we all miss her glow.
