Teacher Shirley A. Wangelin VIEW PROFILE

 

Shirley A. Wangelin

Casper, Wyoming / July 20, 1935—January 16, 2018

 

Shirley A. Wangelin was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi to Charles Otto and Mary

Helen Chaddon. Oldest of three children she moved to California, then to Alaska

where she married Gray Christian Wangelin in 1953. She had two children Charles

Gray and Cary Norman Wangelin. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri in1964 where

she graduated from Park College in 1971 with a degree in arts.

 

She taught High School English at North Kansas City High School then Oak Park High

School. In 1975 she moved to Casper, Wyoming. In 1976 she began teaching at

Natrona County High School where she stayed for the remainder of her career. During

the time she taught at N.C.H.S. she attended the University of Wyoming and received

her Master's in Arts degree. Shirley retired from teaching in 2002.

 

After her retirement she volunteered at a self-help center where she helped felons ant

addicts. For the rest of her retirement she enjoyed taking care of her animals and

traveling.

 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Gray, brother, Bud; and

life partner, Carol Eckstrom.

 

She is survived by her brother, Alan Chaddon (Vasso); sons, Charles "Chip" Wangelin

(Barb), and Cary Wangelin (Grace); grandson, Justin Christman (Jennifer);

granddaughter, Stacy Bullock (Wes); grandson, Jones; and five great-grandchildren.

 

A memorial service for Shirley will be held Saturday, June 9, at Bustards Funeral

Home at 11 a.m.
