Bryon Bain VIEW PROFILE

Bryon W. Bain

A 38-year-old Casper man died at the scene from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash on Salt Creek Highway on Friday, according to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol on Sunday.

Bryon W. Bain was riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on Salt Creek Highway -- Wyoming Highway 254 -- at an estimated speed of 74 mph in a posted 40 mph zone, according to the news release.

As Bain approached a curve in the 1200 block of the road, he lost control of the motorcycle some time between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The motorcycle hit a light pole and a large electrical junction box, and Bain was totally ejected from the motorcycle.

He and the motorcycle came to rest off the road, and the Wyoming Highway Patrol estimated they were not discovered for about two hours.

Highway Patrol troopers attribute the crash to excessive speed. Bain was not wearing a helmet.

Bain's funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Bustard's Funeral Home.

This accident marked the first fatal crash reported to and investigated by the Wyoming Highway Patrol during the Labor Day weekend.

During the 2006 Labor Day weekend, troopers investigated three fatal crashes statewide.

Troopers will continue their high visibility enforcement efforts through midnight today, according to the news release.
