Cecelia Theresa Rodgers Miller

Casper, Wyoming

March 20, 1943 - March 13, 2015

Cecelia Miller went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 13, 2015, in Missoula, MT where she lived since Sept 2011. Cecelia was born in Mena, AR on March 20, 1943 to Sadie Theresa Jones Rodgers and Cecil E. Rodgers. In 1955, her family moved to Casper, YVY. She attended Dean Morgan Junior High, Natrona County High School and Casper College. After graduating at Oklahoma State University, she taught Home Ec for 7 years in Upton, MN. She later attended Sam Houston State University and earned a Master's Degree in School Social Work.. Cecelia was a member of the Natrona County Education Association for many years and served as president in 1983-84. After several years as a high school social worker at Natrona County High School. she transferred in 1995 to Elementary Schools in Casper; (Mills, Fairdale, Southridge, Grant, and Willard.)

Cecelia met W. Roger Miller in the First Christian Church choir in Casper Oct 1988, they started dating that fall, and decided to marry, and were wed on June 30, 1990, the hottest day that year.

Cecelia's passion for Jesus was remarkable. She belonged to First Christian Church in Mena, and in Casper. She sang in the Choir, directed the Sunbeam Choir (pre-school kids), was on the Diaconate, taught Sunday school, and served as an Elder, when she and Roger spent many Sunday afternoons visiting with FCC shut-ins.

Cecelia had a beautiful singing voice, was an accomplished piano player, enjoyed embroidery, and loved all children. Roger will tell you that Cecelia is in heaven now sitting with the children in heaven, taking care of them.

Cecelia is survived by her husband, W. Roger Miller of Missoula, MT; her brother, John David (Connie) Rodgers of Cheyenne, VVY and their 2 boys, Kyle (Kristi) of Washington and Christopher (Colleen) and their girls Elizabeth and Catherine , of Cheyenne, MN; her stepdaughter, Kristi (Roy) Handley and their 2 boys of Clinton, MT; her stepdaughter, Dana (Todd) Lash and their 2 boys, of North Huntingdon, PA; Dana's daughter Shante' Jackson of Casper, VVY; and great Granddaughter, Liliana Jackson. ; Aunt Marjorie Jones of Pine Bluff, AR., cousins, Tommy Donovan and AnneDonovan of Fayetteville, AR, Patricia Tackett of Hot Springs, AR, Ginny Baldridge of St. Louis, MO, Leonard Rodgers of Richland, WA, Daniel Rodgers of Casper, Tom Rodgers of Casper, Valerie Butler of Casper, Vicki Horn of Glenrock, Pam Anderson of WI, and Kenny Pickinpaugh of Reno Junction. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Rodgers 1972, and her mother, Theresa Rodgers 2001; maternal grandparents, Ira (Pappy) and Byrd (Nanny) Jones, paternal grandparents Bert Rodgers and Josephine Rodgers, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service and celebration of Cecelia's life is planned on Saturday, June 27, 11 am at First Christian Church, 520 CY Avenue, Casper, VVY. The family would love for all her friends to celebrate her life with us. Memorials may be sent to the Central Wyoming Rescue Mission or First Christian Church of Casper.

I am certain that I would not have survived high school were it not for Cecilia. There were many days that she used her wisdom and discernment to keep me alive. She always listened. She was instrumental in starting the S.A.I.L. (Student Assistance in Life) programs at NC. When I think of people that made a direct impact on my life at NC, she is one of them. Thank you Cecilia, for giving to the Lord, for I am, as the song says, a life that was changed.
