
November 2, 1983 - Democrat Cassville man Died In Wreck A Cassville man was killed at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, 1983, when his truck hit a vehicle that was stranded on Interstate 40 at Clinton, Okla., the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. Allen Lee Stubblefield, 23, Cassville, died when his eastbound tractor-trailer unit ran off I-40 and hit a disabled and unattended truck that was parked on the roadside, the patrol said. Stubblefield was pronounced dead at the scene by Custer County authorities. Born August 7, 1960, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Stubblefield of the Corinth community. He was a driver for Friend Tire Co. in Monett Born in Washington, Missouri, he grew up in the Cassville area and graduated in 1978 from Cassville High School. Other survivors include a son, Dustin Clay; two brothers, Airman 1st Class Michael Stubblefield, stationed in Korea, and Matthew of the home and a sister, Heather of the home. Additional survivors include grandparents, Chester Browning of Seligman, Mrs. Ruby Stubblefield of Cassville and Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Hyde of Washburn. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Williamson Chapel in Cassville, with Rev. Lawrence Shuey presiding. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery.
