John W. Shay, age 53 of East Moline, died Saturday, July 21, 2007 at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation is Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is in the new St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City, IA. Memorials may be made to Craig Hospital, Engelwood, CO. or a charity of choice. John was born September 7, 1953 in Iowa City, IA, son of Clement and Cecilia (Kurtz) Shay. John was currently employed as an Information Technology Analyst for John Deere. John was a member of the Quad-City Skyraiders R.C. Club and publisher of their monthly newsletter. He enjoyed photography, computers, and was a sports car enthusiast. SURVIVORS INCLUDE His Wife Bea Brother Robert (Carolyn) Shay Marion, IA Sister Sandy Shay Cedar Rapids, IA Nieces & nephews Theresa Shay, Patrick Shay and their families Angie Bowen & Donald Maresh and their spouses Bea's family cherished John as a "brother and uncle". He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gerald.
