So sad to learn this. Occasionally I remember how he made sure the teachers pronounced his last name correctly, with the little brogue. No one else corrected the teachers in this way, that I was aware of. His clarity around the pronunciation of his name has really stuck with me. Hope his life was good, filled with dreams come true.

Full Disclosure: I didn't know Robert as an adult,  and I am sketchy about our time together at LHS.  When I saw his yearbook picture in this mournful email,  I felt like that older person (now me) seeing a young relative and remarking "didn't you get big"!

We fix others in time like a photo, a frozen memory.  Robert and I went to grammar school together,  at St Joachims in Cedarhurst. Looking back,  there were traits Robert displayed that if more common,  the world would be a better place.  He never had a bad or unkind word to say about anyone.  I can't recall him being negative about anything really.  This isn't a gap in my memory,  but his nature and the vibe he gave off. Always.

While I assume the jury is still out,  I think people don't fundamentally change.  With that in mind,  those who spent time with Robert later in life witnessed that people are basically good,  but can be so in a way that proves it.  Robert did that for me early on and I am thankful that memory is frozen in time. May you have a similar mental image stashed away.

I remember going to his house on Broadway, a large circular dirt driveway. A pretty big family if I remember correctly. I believe our sisters were friends or knew each other, long time ago. Think maybe 9th or 10th grade? I don't write much on here, but he was a good guy, definately worth mentioning!
