School Story:

Random thoughts about high school:

- the clunky old mechanical vico/milk machine in the hallway
- yearbook sessions and being allowed in the staff room to work!!
- PREFECT badges (giving us the authority to play ENFORCER ha!)
- tally of grad money collected on side chalkboard
- taking bio, physics and chem....what was I thinking???? Those marks need to be deleted from my memory bank.
- Glennys doing my Literature, me doing her math, mom doing home-ec!
- grad photographer having me stand on two dictionaries to even out the class picture
- receiving a SOLID grounding in grammar and punctuation, which has now turned into a rather unhealthy obsession. Thanks Sabina:) Who's with me on that one?

Then back to jr. high and elementary school:

Can you believe that one year, this was really the
Christmas concert song for the boys in our class to sing, as they were 'bellying up to the bar' and pretending to be drunk -

"Show me the way to go home.... I'm tired an' I wanna go to bed... Oh, I had a little
dri (hic-up) nk about an hour ago and it went right to my head...."

Hilarious! (Not an idea that I have been able to make use of in the twenty some concerts I have had to plan for.)

Then back to Gr. 5 or 6

- the wooden Christmas sleighs that we made with Mrs. Wendel, bless her soul. We can now appreciate what that experience must have been like for her -a classroom of inexperienced, enthusiastic kids, no end of broken coping saw blades, sawdust all over, , a seemingly never-ending project...and my memory of Esther W always has her smiling. Go figure??

- Gr. 4 'year of the checkmark'. Watching Miss Biggs correct work, with her beautiful checkmarks was mezmerizing for me. Award for penmanship goes to Miss Biggs.

- Gr. 3? being dressed in a long crepe paper skirt, singing a solo for Alice Blue Gown, in my squeaky little shy voice, that not ONE person could have possibly heard!

- tasting octopus, when Laura brought it for show and tell. Or maybe that memory is - watching others taste octopus that Laura brought for show and tell.

- being one of many little ones who were 'scared of the bees' in our classroom and having to slide along the classroom wall to leave the class at recess time to avoid them. (Or was that in my dream??)

- and finally, back to Gr. 1 and not being able to open the school doors alone. Trauma unit almost called in.

Looking forward to the reunion and seeing everyone. I hope we wear nametags that include our year of graduation (to save us time/embarrassment when reconnecting with so many people that we have not seen in years:)
