Jay was in our wedding. We have been close friends all these years. The past few years we spoke every few years We visited him in Florida, most recently in March. He knew it was near the end, but he had his many friends visit him almost to the end. He leaves behind his daughter Tyler and his grandson.
August 9 1967, Jay showed up at "barrel lake" in his VW bug with his girl friend, hoping to get lucky. Little did he know that I and my delinquent friends were there to celebrate Mike Gerharts 18th birthday. When he realized there was no way anybody was going to get "lucky" that night he joined the party until the sheriff showed up and we dispersed into the cornfields. That was the first time we met, we became friends and were to the end. I miss him.
