Herman Moore

Herman Aubrey Moore, III CHARLOTTE - Herman Aubrey Moore, III died in his home on November 7, 2012, surrounded by his family. Born in Charlotte on June 22, 1953, Herman was the eldest son of the late Bette Craig Moore and the late Senator Herman Aubrey Moore, Jr. He attended Charlotte Country Day School, Woodberry Forest and graduated from Queens University. He began his professional career selling residential real estate at Moffatt Sherard & Associates. Subsequently, he went into commercial real estate and developed land in North and South Carolina. Herman was a man of great humor and unconditional love. His ability to make both friends and strangers of all ages smile will be remembered by those whose lives he touched. An avid outdoorsman and lifetime supporter of Ducks Unlimited, Herman enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father, son-in-law, grandson and friends. He also enjoyed spending time in DeBordieu with his family, boating in the creeks and joining a crowd of friends and family for a day on the beach. He loved girls' softball and raised his three girls to do the same, never missing a game or a season as their coach. Herman's heart was tremendous - he took great pleasure in helping others, volunteering at Friendship Trays and utilizing his considerable skill as an amateur auctioneer to benefit many charities. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, support and comfort from friends and family over the last few weeks. Herman certainly felt the love surrounding him in his final journey and the family is forever grateful. They would also like to thank Emily Dunbar and the Hospice staff for their assistance in making his passing one of peace and comfort. Herman is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Ann, his three adoring daughters, Aubrey Moore Grier and her husband, Brandon; Ellen McConnell Moore, and Anna Bett Newman Moore; his step-mother Martha Moore Wickham and her husband, Charles, his sister Leslie Moore Sanchez and her husband, Jose Luis; his brothers Philip Craig Moore and his wife, Tik; and Eric McConnell Moore and his wife, Brenda; his brother-in-law, Paul Randolph Sheahan; his three nieces; and two very special grandchildren who brought him endless joy, Stuart Rushing Grier and Elle Newman Grier.
