Christos Chris Constantinos Katsiagianis
JUNE 19, 2014 BY HALL-WYNNE

CHAPEL HILL: Christos Chris Constantinos Katsiagianis Esq, 63, left this Earth in the company of family and friends to be reunited with his loved ones and the communion of saints on June 19, 2014. He is survived by Wendy Jo Conklin Katsiagianis, his wife of 32 years, and Constantinos Ntinos Christos Katsiagianis, his son. He was preceded in death by his father Constantinos Gus Christos Katsiagianis; his mother Maryoula Mary Markos Katsiagianis, and his stepfather, whom he considered a second father, Demitrios Kocoronis. Others who loved Chris in this lifetime include his best friend George Tamara Spirakis, Diane Dennis Duggan, Nicole Jimos, Alex Tsironis, Francis Frannie Benton, Cathy Beckwith; godson Jordan G. Spirakis, along with many other godchildren; brother-in-law William Edward Bill Conklin, and sisters-in-law Nadine Marie Conklin Seemann and Michelle Louise Conklin Wright.

Born in Warrenton, NC, Chris faced the tragic loss of his father when he was only five months old. Returning to his parents’ homeland, Chris lived in Karpenisi, Greece until he was eight years old. He then rejoined his mother and his stepfather in Charlotte, NC. After high school, Chris enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He served his country during the Vietnam years and received an honorable discharge. Chris earned his undergraduate degree from UNC-Charlotte, after which he attended North Carolina Central University School of Law. As a law student he completed courses at Duke University School of Law through the consortium program, and abroad at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki School of Law in the area of international law. Chris attained his Juris Doctorate in 1987. That same year, Chris passed the Bar in Pennsylvania and began practicing immigration law. From 1991 to 1993, he served as Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia, PA. After leaving the DA’s office, Chris continued to practice law in North Carolina. A member of the Pennsylvania Bar and of the National Lawyers Guild – Immigration Project, Chris was authorized to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Federal District Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the 3rd and 4th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the U.S. The practice of immigration law is Federal; thus, Christos was permitted to assist his clientele wherever located throughout the nation and the world. In all, Chris’ practice spanned 27 years.

Chris was a member of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, where he served as a member of AHEPA and also taught Sunday school. In his free time, Chris loved reading, listening to music, watching movies, and enjoying time with family and friends.

The family will welcome friends 4-6 PM Sunday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, with the funeral at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the 529 college fund for the education of Chris’ son: cfnc.org/nc529/giftCard.jsp.
