OBITUARY
Betty Turner Thomas
APRIL 29, 1930 – DECEMBER 30, 2018
Betty Louise Turner Thomas, 88, of Wilmington, NC died on Sunday, December 30, 2018. She was born in Lake Wells, FL on April 29, 1930 to Peter and Ethel Turner.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Thomas and son Baxter Thomas.
Betty is survived by her son David Ewin Thomas and wife Gina of Wilmington, son-in-law James Randall Hobbs, grandchildren; Jessica Zambrano and husband Gus, Jeremiah Johnson, Megan Thomas, Margaret Hobbs, Brandi Thomas, Kayla Thomas, great grandchildren Alana Zambrano, Jason, Zambrano, Gavin Zambrano, Connor Johnson and one on the way.
Betty taught mathematics at Myers Park High School in Charlotte. She attended Wrightsville Beach Baptist.
The Funeral Service will be 11am Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral & Cremation Service officiated by Rev. Tom Canady. Visitation will be held one hour prior. A Graveside Service will be held 11am Monday, January 7, 2019 at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, NC.

Mrs. Thomas was a favorite teacher of mine. She asked me to do math tutoring and got me started on a lifelong path of teaching. I remember her as no-nonsense, but kind. She made a difference.
Catherine Elizabeth "Cathy" Taylor (Metz)
Mrs. Thomas was my math teacher at Myers Park. She was an excellent teacher with a beautiful smile. Later during my teaching career at East Mecklenburg, I was lucky to call her a colleague. She was always so supportive. I am proud to have known her.
Mary Mikell (McDonald)
Mrs. Thomas was the last math teacher I ever had. Liked her a lot but Math was not my thing-those pesky word problems!
Betty Meade (Chambers)
Mrs. Thomas was my homeroom teacher at Myers Park. She never taught me but I remember her sense of humor and smile. Rest in Peace, Mrs. Thomas.
