Coach Allen was one of several great coaches at Myers Park. I was lucky to be on the track team. When traveling to a meet the MP track team would get off the bus, walk to the track in those baggy cotton gray sweats and you would see heads turn. It was as if to say whow there's Myers Park. You see Coach Allen built a NC track & field dynasty from the late 1950's to the early 1970's. Of the 16 years he taught & coached, the Myers Park track & field team won 11 NC 4A State Championships.
It was fitting MP named the track after Coach Stuart B. Allen.
