Gladys W. Scott
Mrs. Scott, a long-time resident of Charlotte, died on March 5, 2007 at the age of 86 in the Houston, TX area, where she had been living with her daughter for the past year.
Mrs. Scott was born in Charlottesville, VA in 1920. She lived in Charlotte from 1964 until 2006 and was a member of the social studies faculty at Myers Park High School from 1965 until her retirement in 1985. Before living in Charlotte, she also taught school in Madison, NC, Belmont, NC and Asheville, NC.
Mrs. Scott was a 1942 graduate of Duke University and received a Master of Education degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1973. She was an active member of the League of Women Voters in Charlotte, as well as a participant in the Crisis Assistance Ministry and in the ALIVE group at the Jewish Community Center.
Mrs. Scott is survived by two daughters, Ms. Julia S. Badaliance of Falls Church, VA and Mrs. Ruth S. Rodenhauser of Spring, TX, as well as two sons, Mr. David S. Scott of Raleigh and Dr. Paul W. Scott of Louisville, CO. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family is planning a memorial service in Charlotte in early June.
