CANTON - Violet Potter Ballard, 80, passed away Sunday,  October 14, 2018. Mrs. Ballard was born March 21, 1938 in Haywood County to the late Willis Potter and the late Mozelle Swanger. She had been formerly employed with Bell Telephone Company in Canton several years ago and had worked as a secretary all throughout her life. Violet truly loved the mountains where she was born and raised , she also enjoyed traveling and had a great talent for decorating and interior design. Violet’s precious memory will remain in the hearts of her loved ones forever.

     She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Clarence “Case”Ballard; daughters, Karen Thomas, Donna Willis, Jackie Carver and Debra Willis; step-sons, Kirk Ballard and Wayne Ballard;  grandchildren, Thomas Soesbee, Kayla Lasoya, Crystal Smathers and Mellisa McClemens and six great-grandchildren. 

   Mrs. Ballard’s first husband and the father of her children, Jack Thomas Willis, passed away one day  following the death of Violet and a time of remembrance and celebration of their life memorial service is planned by their family to be held together.                                                        

   The celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor Paul Murdock will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
