Joseph Loftin Graham


Joseph Loflin Graham, 56, died peacefully at his home in Keswick, VA on Thursday, September 1, 2011. Born in Lynchburg, VA, he was the son of Claire Loflin Graham and the late Reginald Maurice Graham of Charlotte, NC. He was the grandson of the late Rev. Nelius Longfellow and Olive Talley Loflin and the late George Walter and Lucille Coleman Graham, all of Lynchburg. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Brenda W. Graham; his sister Regina Graham Love and her husband, Shawn of Charlotte, NC; his brother, David C. Graham and his wife, Jodie; his niece, Katherine E. Graham all of Mt. Holly, NC; an uncle and ten cousins. Joe was a graduate of Myers Park High School in Charlotte and the University of Virginia. At UVA he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and there, as well as at Myers Park, he formed many deep and lasting friendships. After graduation he entered the business world as co-owner of restaurants Fog Subs and The Cotton Exchange in Charlottesville. He later worked with Albemarle Bank & Trust and The Equitable Life Assurance Company. In 1986, he realized a long-held ambition in the founding of his own company, FIC Staff Services which continues to operate successfully. He was a member of the Young Men's Business Club and former member of the Redlands Club.

Joe was a young man of great determination and lived life with zeal. He was an avid reader, a competitive athlete, a lover of the outdoors and an astute businessman. His devotion to family and friends was evident in all that he did. In facing the illness of cancer, he remained steadfast in courage and fortitude, as he did with all things. A private graveside service was held at 11:00 AM, September 10, 2011 at Fort Hill Memorial Park in Lynchburg. The family received friends from 3:00-5:00 in the afternoon at Hill and Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville.
