Fred Neal Hall

Fred Hall obituary, Charlotte, NC

Fred "Neal" Hall, 58, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 24, 2013, of Acute Myeloid Leukemia which he fought courageously for three-and-a-half years. He was surrounded by his family and friends. After receiving a Bone Marrow Stem Cell transplant in 2010, he did very well for three years until just recently when the leukemia came back with a vengeance. Even then he continued to fight like a warrior. Neal was born in Charlotte, NC, on Dec. 8, 1954, the son of the late Pat and Hope Hall. He attended Park Road Elementary, A.G. Jr. High School and graduated from Myers Park High School in 1973. After his parents' death, he ran Pat Hall Enterprises for his family. He became well-known as an honest, hard-working businessman and consultant in industrial and commercial real estate. He later founded Hall Property Management Company where he managed properties for several large companies. Neal was known for his fairness in all of his business dealings. Neal loved all sports and was an incredible athlete. He excelled at football, swimming, basketball and water-skiing. Neal's influence touched many lives in the Charlotte community. He was very involved in the Harris YMCA and his children's lives. Neal's life-long love was the Lord, his wife Missy and his sons Neal III and Ben. His life's goal was to make a positive difference in the lives of others. He was most generous with his time and talents. Neal's life was epitomized by strong character, gentlemanly behavior and unwavering integrity. Neal is survived by his loving wife, Missy; his sons, Neal III and Ben; his step-children, Winn, Catherine and Liza; his sister Jan and husband Ed Brown and their daughters Emily and Allison; his sister Meg and husband Dean Rallings and their son Adam; his sister-in-law Susan, wife of his deceased brother Pat, and their four children, Patrick, Hope and Billy (husband), Cory and Suzanna; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Arthur and Laura Whedon; his brother-in-law Parker Whedon; his brother-in-law Bill; and sister-in-law Betsy Whedon. The Hall family wants to especially thank Neal's many friends as well as his close-knit family who have supported him through his illness and throughout his life. The family also wants to thank Dr. David Rizzieri, Therese Hennig, Dr. Mack White and the many health-care professionals who made it possible for Neal to have three and a half additional years after his cancer diagnosis in late 2009. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Harris YMCA at 5900 Quail Hollow Road, Charlotte, NC 28210, Queens University of Charlotte at 1900 Selwyn Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28274 (note Hope and Pat Hall Scholarship in the memo section) or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service; please share condolences online at www.hankinswhittington.com.
