Lynn Knox Poole CHARLOTTE - Margaret Lynn Knox Poole passed peacefully from this earth on Thursday, June 11, 2015, at Hospice House, Huntersville, North Carolina. She was born in Charlotte on June 4, 1955, to Charles Eugene Knox, Sr. and Margaret Bullock Knox. Having been graduated from Myers Park High School in 1973, Lynn attended Salem College, receiving an Artium Baccalaurea (Bachelor of Arts) in 1977. After receiving a Masters in Human Development and Learning from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte in 1984, Lynn worked as a Guardian ad Litem in the Mecklenburg County Court system, and then in Charlotte as a member of Duke Power's management training program. After moving with her husband to Atlanta in 1990, Lynn used her talent and education to become a pioneering AFAA instructor in wheelchair aerobics, winning the 1993 Christine MacIntyre Award from Shape Magazine, and then trained others across the country in implementing fitness programs for persons with disabilities. Lynn was an active member of the Junior League both in Charlotte and Atlanta, where she became part of the leadership team. Lynn was also a leader at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, serving at Chairperson of the Center's Auxiliary. Moving with her husband again in 1998, this time to Tampa, Lynn was active in several community organizations, including Friends of Plant Park, Mary Lee House, and as a parent volunteer in her daughter's schools. Having overcome many physical challenges throughout her life, Lynn had an unwavering, positive attitude and spirit, always engaging, taking interest, and inspiring other people. She always shared a kind word and a beautiful smile. Lynn will be remembered fondly by the many people she touched along her journey. Preceded in death by her parents, Lynn is survived by her husband Edwin S. Poole, III, of Charlotte; her daughter Caroline Chapin Poole of Charlotte and an undergraduate at New York University; her brother Charles E. Knox, Jr., of Cornelius; her sisters Sandra Leigh Knox of Huntersville and Elizabeth Jenrette Knox of Charlotte; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and by many close friends in Charlotte, Atlanta, Tampa, and across the country, and especially from Myers Park United Methodist Church and from Salem College. A service in memory of Lynn Knox Poole will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 in the sanctuary of Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Road, with a reception and visitation in the Jubilee Hall of the church after the service. A private inurnment will be held at the church prior to the service.
